It’s easy for us to forget or to hierarchically organise ourselves, to play at Oppression Olympics. I can’t claim that as a transgender lesbian my lot in life is easy but that takes nothing from the struggles of others.
I see this often in trans folk my age claiming that young trans people have it so much easier. Pfft. The medical options might be better, society might be starting to adjust, but I know for a fact that young trans people go through the same agonies of self-doubt, the same sleeplessness over telling loved ones the truth.
For all the gains across the queer spectrum there’s no category of us that’s got it made.
So from a lil gay trans sister, know that I see you, I love you, and I won’t be giving up the fight until everyone can breathe freely.
Much love, many hugs
