The oft-cited argument of protecting youths who might not know themselves well enough is horrible. It abrogates the bodily autonomy of our youngsters and suggests we know better than they.
This is why stories like Sam’s need to be heard way more in the so-called ‘trans debate’.
Here in the UK minors are now prevented access to blockers without a court order, thanks to a successful court case brought by a young woman who pressed headlong through the clinical process, and AS AN ADULT had a double mastectomy. Obviously this plays on people’s fears and prejudices.
But that young woman is one person. There are approximately 400 young people on blockers in the UK, all of whose treatment faces disruption.
This WILL cost lives. There is zero question in my mind.
